Please Meet Ruby , 3 yrs old

Ruby had been with us a week or two when unluckily her cruciate ligament in her back left leg went , so it was off to the vets we went and we made the decision that there was only one option and that was she needed a big operation . A gain we have to thank Pete and James and all the staff at Croft vets who are great supporters of Z.R.R for looking after our Dogs so well .

As I type this Ruby is actualy being being operated on and will need quite alot of recovery time and trips to the vets , so it looks like again it will be a busy time for us here in the rescue , I will try to get a few pics of ruby in various states of recovery and post a few updates now and again ,poor old Ruby will now have a good few weeks of keeping still and doing little ,good job she is a bit of a couch patato .

Well Ruby is doing ok ,James the vet who done the op decided to keep Ruby in over night , but I should be collecting her later on to day .The operation she has had is a Triple Tibial Osteotomy [ TTO ] quite a big op and she is not out of the woods yet but fingers crossed all will go well . James is quite happy with how everything has gone , we do have some pics of the op and I may post them in the next day or two plus a couple of Ruby who seems to be taking it all in her stride .

Well its a been just about a week now since Ruby's op and James the vet is quite happy with all that is going on , Ruby is on pain medication to ease the pain ,and is ok with it all . The op was quite a big one for Ruby about 4 hrs long , basicly it involves cutting a peice of bone out of her leg and putting a metal plate in which will stop there for the rest of her life . there was a lot of swelling and bruising but that seems to be easing now , Ruby is going to be needing a lot of rest and frequent trips back and fore the vets ,also it has been desided that some hydro-therapy will help Ruby in a few weeks so Im now looking into this . For now all we can do is on behalf of Ruby thank everyone for their well wishes both by email and phone calls .I will if I can put some of the pics of Rubys actual op up soon [not the grisly ones ] and when she does start her hydro in a few weeks a pic or two of those as well .

To the Idiot who emailed that we shouldnt spend this amount on one rescue dog then I say dont worry about it none of the dogs in Z.R.R miss out on anything , oh by the way lets hope nothing goes wrong with one of your dogs as I guess you will just " put it to sleep " as you suggested we should have done with Ruby .

The pics above are of Ruby's leg after the op . and the plate thjat she now has in her leg . James our vet who op't on Ruby is realy pleased with the way she is recovering , its only been 15 days a good sign is she is now started to weight bare on her leg when she is taken out to do what a girl has to do in the garden ,Ruby is still restricted to being kept on the lead , with only a min or two of free time in the garden for exercise ,Ruby seems to be coping with all this quite well and our vet seems to think the time is nearing when she will need to have some swimming lessons which is why we are now setting about looking for some hydrotherapy for Ruby , So I am now set the task of looking for an hydrotherapist with a hydrotherapy tredmill in the practice , which is considered to be the best type of hydrotharapy that Ruby will benifit from .
